Accra, Jan. 08, GNA - The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) is to embark on a major clean-up exercise in the metropolis on Saturday, January 20.
A statement issued by the assembly on Monday said 93The aim is to beautify the city of Accra for the celebration of the Golden Jubilee anniversary."
"Ghana turns 50 on March 6, a number of activities have been earmarked for the celebration that would attract several foreign dignitaries including Queen Elizabeth II of England and dozens of Heads of State and tourists from all over the world."
"There is the absolute need for every patriotic citizen of the capital city to show a little love for Accra and Ghana by turning up for the exercise."
"Accra must be assisted to put on its best cloth. This, dear resident depends on your participation in the clean-up exercise," it said.
The statement appealed to the youth in particular, youth groups, religious bodies, resident associations, workers' groups and transport organizations to collaborate with the various Sub-Metropolitan assemblies to mobilise their members to participate to make the exercise a success.
