The Ga-Adangbe youth have commended the Mahama-led administration for restoring traditional prayers at this year’s Independence Day anniversary celebrations.

Libations were poured by traditional authorities in the Ga state at the Sunday Independence Day anniversary celebrations in Accra after the practice was barred for almost 8 years by the erstwhile Professor Mills administration.

The late professor reportedly deemed the practice ungodly and unchristian-like as he was known to be an avowed Christian.

The Ga-Adangbe Youth had condemned the suspension.

At a press conference Tuesday, the youth thanked President Mahama and his government for bringing back the ritual, saying it brings back the pride of the Damgbe people.

Ghana celebrated its 59th Independence Day anniversary on Sunday March 6, after gaining independence from the British colonial rule in 1957.
