Ghana abstained from a UN Human Rights Council (UNHCR) vote, which "Strongly Condemns Grave Israeli Violations of Human Rights in Lebanon"
In a 27-11 vote (with 8 abstentions), which came within hours of the 'Israel-Lebanon ceasfire’ vote, the UNCHCR condemned Israeli war crimes and agreed 'immediately to despatch a high-level Inquiry Commission to Lebanon’.
The Council agreed that a high-level commission comprising of eminent experts of human rights law and international humanitarian law who should investigate the systematic targeting and killings of civilians by Israel; examine the types of weapons used by Israel and their conformity with international law; and assess the extent and deadly impact of Israeli attacks on human life, property, critical infrastructure and environment (READ)
