Ghana Ambassador To Serbia Presents Credentials

Ghana's Ambassador to Serbia, His Excellency Mr. Samuel Valis-Akyianu has presented his Letters of Accreditation at a colourful ceremony in Belgrade.

Mr. Valis-Akyianu, a former ambassador to the Czech Republic from 1997 to 2001 assumed duty on November 11th 2009, and presented his letters of credence to the President of the Republic of Serbia, His Excellency Mr. Boris Tadic, at the Federation Palace in the Serbian capital, Belgrade on 28th January, 2010.

The Ambassador-Designate was accompanied by two officials of the Mission – Ms, Constance Ampem-Danquah, Third Secretary Finance and Mrs. Ruby Thelma Boachie, Third Secretary Administration, Mrs. Love Valis-Akyianu wife of the Ambassador.

The Ambassador-Designate and his team were resplendent in their Kente cloth for the ceremony which was held indoors as a result of snow.

The Ambassador-Designate inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Serbian Military.

After presentation to the President by the Chief of Protocol, the Ambassador-Designate handed his Letters of Accreditation to the President. The two then took turns to introduce their entourage to each other.

The Ambassador and the President then had private discussions which centered on Economic, Political, Education, Agriculture and the President’s intended visit to Ghana and of course about the 2010 “ World Cup”, after which Ambassador Valis-Akyianu was invited again to inspect a Guard of Honour where the Ghana National Anthem was played.

After completing the inspection the Ambassador left the Federation Palace in the Serbian Official car with Police Motorcade, followed by his entourage in official cars.

The entire ceremony was rounded off with an impressive get together hosted by the Ambassador at the Ghana Residency. Present were the Chief of Protocol and officials from the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officers of the Embassy and their families.
