Ghana Bar Association Calls For Speedy Trial Of Cases

Cape Coast (C/R) The President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Mr Sam Okudzeto, has stressed the need for the Attorney-General's department to take steps to engage more legal practioners to help speed up the trial of cases. He said the association is concerned about the long remand in custody of people without trial. Speaking during a courtesy call on the Central Regional Minister, Mr Kojo Yankah, as part of a day's visit to the Central Region, Mr Okudzeto said the GBA should not rpt not be seen as an organisation in opposition to the government. The GBA has a cardinal role in ensuring the effective administration of justice at all levels of society, he said, adding that "we do this irrespective of our political persuasions". He said the association has a role in ensuring peaceful and conducive investment climate to help attract more investment.
