President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said despite challenges and difficulties, the country is on course to reaching its goal of a Ghana Beyond Aid.
Ghana Beyond Aid is Nana Akufo-Addo’s long term vision for the country.
The vision is for Ghana to wean herself off development aid as much as possible.
To this end, Nana Akufo-Addo constituted a 13-member Ghana Beyond Aid Charter Committee in June last year to put together a charter on the policy.
Th charter which has since being presented to the president outlines the roadmap for Ghana’s determination to be a self-reliant country.
In his 62nd Independence Day message to Ghanaians, Nana Akufo-Addo urged the citizenry to be united and remain steadfast as the goal of achieving the Ghana beyond aid is within reach.
He said: “As we celebrate our nation’s 62 birthday, we should be fortified in the knowledge that despite our challenges and difficulties we are on course to reaching our goal of a Ghana Beyond Aid, that is realizing the vision of the free, fair, democratic, self-reliant, prosperous Ghana, governed by the rule of law and respects for human rights , that inspired our forebears to fight for the liberation of our country and continent from foreign domination. Let us remain steadfast and united – the goal is within reach”.
