The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana National Gas Company, Judith Adjobah Blay, has provided support to 100 widows in the company’s catchment districts.

The beneficiary districts included Jomoro, Ellembelle, and Nzema East in the Western Region.

During a get-together held at Aya Elderly Care Center in Ampain, Ellembelle district, on Sunday, December 28, 2025, the CEO, who has spent eight months in office, presented rice, cooking oil, soap, canned tomatoes, soft drinks, sugar, Milo, as well as an undisclosed cash amount to each widow. The beneficiaries were also treated to food and drinks.

Speaking at the event, Judith Adjobah Blay said, as a daughter of the Nzema area, it was a privilege to put smiles on the faces of widows by contributing her own resources to support them.

“It is a sacred duty to cater for the welfare and well-being of the less privileged in society, such as widows,” she said.

She noted that the image of widows is often associated with misery, but she was happy to see that widows in the Nzema area were filled with happiness, gaiety, and joy.

Blay further stated that, as a daughter of Nzemaland, she felt a duty to commit to the empowerment of widows, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to society. She therefore seized the opportunity to inaugurate the Nzema Widows Association and pledged her unwavering support to strengthen the organization.

“The idea is to bring all widows in the three Nzema constituencies under one umbrella,” she said.

Madam Nzenaibu Angama of Sanzule thanked the CEO of Ghana Gas for the benevolent gesture, noting that it was the first time widows in the Nzema area had received such support. She appealed to the CEO to continue championing the interests of widows as a divine cause.

The beneficiaries expressed excitement and offered special prayers for the CEO and the company. They described the gesture as unprecedented since Ghana Gas was established in Nzemaland.

“We haven’t experienced anything like this before. Since Ghana Gas was established on our land, we have not seen such support. We are very excited. We pray to God to protect you, give you good health, and grant you wisdom to manage Ghana Gas well for the country,” they said.
