Ghana-German sewing centre inaugurated in Hohoe

Hohoe, Oct 21, GNA - A Ghana-German Sewing Centre has been inaugurated by Mamaga Akosua 1, Paramount Queen of SASADU Traditional Areas. The SASADU communities are Akrofu, Saviefe and Alavanyo in the Volta Region.

Mamaga Akosua, a German known in private life as Cornelia Wuelfing, under the auspices of the German Embassy in Ghana, German Ministry of Health and other non-governmental entities have initiated some development projects in the catchments area. She said the centre train 21 apprentices in sewing and designing. Mamaga Akosua told the GNA that education and healthcare sectors constituted crucial resource base for the socio-economic development of nations, hence her concentration on those areas. Mamaga Akosua was accompanied by Dr Marius Haas, the German Ambassador in Ghana, Mr John Peter Amewu, Hohoe Municipal Chief Executive and Togbega Atakora Tsedze VII, Paramount Chief of Alavanyo Traditional Area to inaugurate the sewing centre in addition to the new block of the Happy Kids Kindergarten in Hohoe costing 15,000 Ghana Cedis.

Mamaga Akosua mentioned some of her completed projects as Sovie Foster and Orphanage building and a flat for the caretaker teacher. She added that under her initiative the German Embassy has agreed to provide the Nkonya Community Clinic under construction with medical equipment upon completion.
