The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GHis) has inducted newly qualified members into its professional body.

The GHis which marked its 50th anniversary, is made up of three groups of professionals: the Valuation and Estate Surveyors, the Quantity Surveyors, and the Land Surveyors.

President of GHis and chairperson of the induction ceremony, Mrs. Maame Ama-Edumadze Acquah admonished the new members to exercise professionalism in their work.

“Let me sound a word of caution, that the surveying profession comes with rules, regulations, code of ethics, and all these ought to be followed by you. You also have to act in a manner that will enhance the integrity and dignity of the profession,” she said.

According to Mrs. Acquah, the newly inducted surveyors should embrace and learn how well to use survey technology in order to contribute their quota to national development.

“We all acknowledge that the rapid changes we see in technological development; be it automation, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality would all play major roles in the future of surveying, thus it is imperative that we find ways of embracing and mastering them … surveyors in Ghana have no option but to move with the technology if we want to be in business and remain relevant in the market, particularly if we want our contribution to the national development to be felt,” she said.

Inductees who performed exceptionally well in their academics were given special awards and recognition.
