University of Ghana reschedules closing date

The authorities at the University of Ghana have denied reports that most students have been unable to write certain examination papers as a result of the irregular issuance of timetables.

The students allege that the timetable for the second semester examinations has changed so many times leaving most of them in a limbo ? not knowing when the next paper will be taken.

As a result they claim that certain papers were written without their knowledge.

Some of them didn?t know when or where the exams were due to be taken. Others say the times for taking some papers were announced so late that they didn?t have adequate time to prepare.

But the acting Director of Academic Affairs, Enoch Amartey says the university gave students whose timetables were changed ample time to notice these changes and prepare as such.

He therefore dismissed suggestions by the students that they should be allowed to take the examinations they missed. He says five students who had genuine cases of clashing examination timetables have however been given the go-ahead to write the papers they missed.

The university has also shifted the closing date for the end of the semester to 31st of May.
