To curb the recent spate of armed robbery in the country, the Ghana Police Service has recruited six thousand civilians to help in its community patrol and watchdog activities.

The Director of Public Affairs of the Service, ACP David Eklu, on Talking Point, said the Police are working hard in the interim to identify hot spots and work with the communities to save the situation.

Meanwhile a Security Analyst, Emmanuel Sowatey has cautioned Politicians to stop interfering with the Operations of the Police, and rather concentrate on equipping them.

He said Politicians should stop using the Police for their partisan interest since this amounts to, what he termed, "capacity shredding" instead of capacity building.

Mr Sowatey also advised Politicians to stop discrediting the Police to the public when they are in opposition.

He said this brings bad blood between the public and the Police.
