Personnel of the Ghana Police Service have provided water to some underprivileged communities in the country using their three huge water tankers.

Communities such as Oyibi, Adamrobe, and other surrounding areas have so far benefitted from this gesture.

Director of Transport at the Ghana Police Service, Dr. Baba Iddrisu, who supervised the exercise said, following President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s call for free water supply to all Ghanaians, they realized the need to identify specific areas in need of water and serve them accordingly.

“We realized that after the president’s pronouncement of free water supply to all Ghanaians due to the lockdown, some communities might need water so we decided to use our three tankers to supply water to some deprived communities through the instruction of the IGP, James Oppong Bonuah. This is our own little way of helping the country,” he established.

Some residents who received their share of the water commended the police for what they described as ‘timely’ support.

“We thank the police and government for this kind gesture. We really needed this. They also asked us to call on them anytime we need some water and for this we thank them. God bless them,” a resident stated.

“There is no water in this area. We usually go and buy water from other places. We really suffer here. The police have assured us that they will bring more water to help us and we really appreciate them for helping us,” another said.
