Ghana Police rescues Koforidua Jubilee Park

The Eastern Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has gone to the rescue of the Koforidua Jubilee Park, which had been left in ruins.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Regional Command, said, though the facility had not formally been handed over to the Police, they had initiated actions to protect the facility from further deterioration.

“The Jubilee Park is a state asset and we, the Police, have the mandate to ensure that every state property is safe,” he said.

Mr Nketia –Yeboah told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview at Koforidua.

According to him, the Regional Command uses the ceremonial grounds for parade rehearsals and training of Police recruits, therefore, they would not sit unconcern to see the facility destroyed.

At the moment, a warning post under the signage of the New Juaben Municipal Assembly and the Ghana Police Service has been mounted to stop amateur drivers who use the facility for their practical driving lessons.

The GNA also observed that the weeds surrounding the Jubilee Park were gradually dying, which indicated that some weedicide had been applied on them.

The GNA also found out that, last weekend, the Municipal Assembly rented out the facility to a church which held their National Women’s Convention at the ceremonial grounds.

Recently, the GNA published an article on the neglect of the Jubilee Park, at Koforidua, in which both the New Juaben Municipal Assembly and the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council denied being responsible for the facility.
