Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has held a key meeting with Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Thani, Undersecretary of the Qatar Ministry of Labour, as Ghana seeks to strengthen strategic partnerships under its Labour Export Programme.
In a post on X on November 17, 2025, Minister Ablakwa said Qatar has expressed interest in immediately recruiting Ghanaian professionals in the health, tourism, IT, transport, and logistics sectors.
He disclosed that both countries are preparing to formalise their labour cooperation.

Qatar has already ratified the agreement, while Ghana’s Parliament is expected to complete ratification in the coming weeks.
Ghana has also requested that Qatar establish a West African Qatar Visa Centre in the country to facilitate labour mobility.
Qatar has praised Ghanaian workers for their impressive work ethic and high standards, which many Qatari CEOs have reportedly confirmed.
Ablakwa said the Mahama administration will continue to create opportunities for Ghanaian youth at home and abroad through practical and forward-looking policies.
