Tehran, Nov 12 - Chairman of Ghana's national commission on culture George P. Hagan here on Wednesday called for expansion of cultural and news cooperation between the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) and Ghana news agency.
In a meeting with IRNA chief Abdullah Nasseri Taheri here on Wednesday, Hagan said that he was impressed by broad activities of IRNA and its long years of experience, saying that was beyond his imagination and not comparable with Ghana News Agency.
Hagan said that he was particularly surprised by publication of a daily for the blind by IRNA, saying he would try to have a similardaily published in his country for the blind.
Nasseri for his part called for renewal of an already reached agreement between his agency and Ghana news agency for cultural and news cooperation.
He said that IRNA has been trying to widen the scope of its activities in Africa, especially west Africa.
He briefed hagan on IRNA's activities in 70 years of its history, adding that the agency would open news services in French, Spanish and Chinese languages in the next two years.
He said IRNA has been already sending Persian, Arabic, English and Russian news on the line, while publishing dailies in Persian, English and Arabic languages besides a sports daily, a daily for the blind and a monthly for artists.
