Accra, June 7, GNA - Ghana on Monday joined peace-loving countries in the world to condemn the use of deadly force by Israeli Defence Forces against innocent civilians who were on purely humanitarian mission in favour of the people of Gaza.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said Ghana as a nation was committed to the application and use of dialogue and negotiation to resolve crisis in the Middle East and denounced the use of force by any of the protagonists in the crisis.
It said, "The government of Ghana has received with shock and dismay the tragic news of the attack of the Israeli Defence Forces on Turkish Humanitarian Aid Fleet taking food and building supplies to the Palestinian enclave of Gaza on Monday, May 31, which resulted in the death of nine people".
"Ghana deplores Israel's action and takes the opportunity to call on Israel and Palestine to exercise maximum restrain in resolving the issue," it added.
The statement called on the International Community, United Nations and the Quartet as well as all peace loving nations in the world, to prevail on all factions in the crisis to strictly adhere to international law, particularly International Humanitarian Law and the conduct of their actions.
