Ghana doesn't need upgrade nor reset but Alan - Nana Ohene Ntow replies Bawumia, Mahama

Nana Ohene Ntow, a leading member of the Movement for Change founded by independent presidential candidate Alan Kyerematen, has criticized the leaders of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress over their promises to Ghanaians.

The presidential candidates of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama, respectively, have unveiled their manifestos and outlined various policies they intend to implement to move Ghana forward.

In a repartee between Dr. Bawumia and Mahama, the former says Ghana needs an upgrade, while the latter tells the citizenry that the nation rather needs a reset.

Ex-President John Mahama, flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, delivering a speech during his party’s 2024 Manifesto Launch on Saturday, August 24, said: “Tomorrow, we take the first step towards resetting our dear nation Ghana. We face challenges that have held us back for too long, but now it’s time to build the Ghana we all want together… Tomorrow, we begin the journey together.”

In Dr. Bawumia’s engagement with media practitioners on Sunday, August 25, he replied: “What this country needs is an upgrade, not a reset. And if given the mandate, I will roll out the measures outlined in our recently launched manifesto to revamp the economy."

He urged Ghanaians to opt for him in the December elections, stating: “I represent the future, and Ghana needs an upgrade, not a reset.”

But Nana Ohene Ntow, speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" morning show, dismissed Bawumia's and Mahama's positions on the economy for which they are canvassing Ghanaians for votes.

To him, Ghana neither needs an upgrade nor a reset. Rather, what the country needs is Alan Kyerematen, who, he emphasized, is bringing transformation.

"Alan Kyerematen spoke and said that Ghana needs transformation. If you say an upgrade, then moving from class 1 to 2 is an upgrade. When we mention economic upgrade or growth, growth can move from 1% to 1.1% or 1.2%. But when we talk about transformation, it means a complete change to move the nation's currency, trade, and our lives forward. It's not just a question of upgrade or even reset but a whole transformation."
