Accra, July 25, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Friday said Ghana had a lot to learn from the Republic of Korea for its socio-economic development.

He said Ghana and Korea had the same per capita income during the 1960s but while that of Korea increased Ghana's remained stagnant. "We have to find out how Korea did it," President Kufuor said when Mr Lee Sang-Pal, Korean Ambassador-designate to Ghana presented his Letters of Credence at the Castle, Osu.

He pledged government's determination to support the private sector to move the economy forward.

President Kufuor commended Korea for its assistance in the rehabilitation of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and the fishing industry. Mr Sang-Pal said Ghana would soon become a middle-level country because of the economic policies being pursued by government. He pledged to improve and strengthen the cordial ties between the two countries.
