Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has averred that ever since the first president of the republic, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown 54 years ago, nothing has been done to move the country forward.

Though it was Nkrumah's vision that the country will "move forward ever, backward never", Mr. Ablakwa stated that Ghanaian leaders, when voted into power, do not strive harder to position the country on the path of progress, rather sit aloof to see the country retrogress.

He professed that, in recent times, Ghanaians have been divided over things that do not matter because of their political affiliations but the minister noted that, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is bigger than any political party hence, the need for all to be united to move the country forward.

He further called on both politicians and Ghanaians to learn from Nkrumah's selfless nature as well as share in his vision to make Ghana a better place.

Speaking at a lecture series to mark Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s overthrow at the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Mr Ablakwa urged, “learn from his selflessness, learn from his vision. When you read his two development plans, just two 5 year terms and what he has achieved and yet, after 24th February 1966, we have just been retrogressing. Our elders meet and only remanence over the so-called good old days. Let our generations rise up and let us learn lessons.”

He also entreated all to fight and redeem the image of the Ghana Nkrumah left behind together with some legacies.
