Ghana is 45 Years Old

Wed, 6 Mar 2002 Source:

Today, March 6th is the 45th Anniversary of our independence.

45 years ago, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first Ghanaian Prime Minister, declared, "At last, the battle is ended, and Ghana our beloved country is free forever!"

Today is a public holiday. President Kufuor will not be in the country and thus the Vice President would take the salute at the independence parade. He is expected to make the issue of indiscipline the theme of his address.

The photo was taken at the independence celebration in 1957.

We, at Ghanaweb, wish all citizens of Ghana at home and abroad felicitations on this our 45th birthday.

Long live Ghana!
