Accra, Sept. 3, GNA - Colonel M.M. Walters, Senior Directing Staff of the South African National War College, on Monday said Ghana was a leader in peacekeeping and expressed South Africa's readiness to learn from Ghana in that direction.

Col. Walters made the remarks when he paid a courtesy call on Major General Joseph Boateng Danquah, Chief of Defence Staff. Col. Walters, who is leading a group from the South African National War College to learn from the Ghana Defence College commended Ghana's peacekeeping efforts saying the performance so far was excellent. He said as part of the one-week training programme, the group would visit the Command Staff College, the Kofi Annan Peace Keeping Training Centre, the Jungle war zone, the Manhyia Palace and the Northern Region, among other places.

Maj.-Gen. Danquah expressed Ghana's readiness to share experiences with their colleagues from South Africa. "Ghana has a lot to offer," he said and suggested that Africans should come together as one group to deal with problems on the continent.

The Chief of Defence Staff however, expressed concern about the lack of necessary logistics and urged other African countries that have the logistics to support Ghana. The two leaders exchanged plagues as a symbol of strengthened cooperation between the South African National War College and Ghana's Command Staff College. 03 Sept. 07
