Ghanaians are in a celebratory mood after the National Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Bawumia, conceded defeat to John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDC).
In a press briefing held at his residence on Sunday, December 8, 2024, Bawumia announced that he had congratulated Mahama in a phone call and that his victory shows Ghanaians have spoken. He added that the NPP will regroup and bounce back stronger.
On Saturday, December 7, Ghanaians went to the polls to elect a new leader for the next four years. With the results trickling in, the outcomes show that the NDC is winning the election and several NPP MPs lost their seats to the incoming government under President-elect Mahama.
Following Bawumia’s concession, numerous Ghanaians and supporters of the NDC stormed the streets in excitement to jubilate the victory of their favourite candidates. There are loud cheers, singing, dancing and playing of the vuvuzela, with many wearing the NDC paraphernalia.
The joy and thrill of the election has led to some congratulating Dr Bawumia for conceding even though the Electoral Commission is yet to announce the results from the just ended polls.

Just like Donald Trump, John Mahama too acknowledged Jesus and there’s victory for him in the 2024 Ghana elections.
