Former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr Josiah Aryeh has expressed concerns about the state of the country's economy, describing the situation as leaving even law professors scratching their heads.

The law lecturer observed that the situation makes Ghana seem as without a leader.

“Yes indeed we are leaderless. We are without a manager,” Dr Aryeh stressed on Saturday, February 15, 2014 during the delegates congress of the National Democratic Party (NDP) in the Ashanti Region capital of Kumasi.

“One question that I never tire of asking myself is how come that when given the freedom of choice to act out of our own volition, we act in such a way that we end up in a situation and a condition of real leaderlessness,” Dr Aryeh, a leading member of the Party, told teeming supporters.

“How come that we Ghanaians, a very proud people, should have a situation like that?” he asked.

Dr Aryeh expressed optimism, though, about the situation, saying “we can do better than we are experiencing right now” but added that, that can only be achieved if certain persons - whom he described as “a gang of thieves” - will be exposed.

“How come that in the era that inaugurated the oil economy, we see no sign of oil?” he wondered.

Present during the congress was Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings, who founded the Party.

A nine-member executive for the Party was sworn into office.
