Ghana is ready to tap into the experiences, best practices of Thailand – Foreign Ministry

Supervising Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ambassador Sammie Eddico has stated that Ghana is ready to tap into the experience and best practices of Thailand as both countries strengthen their bilateral relations.

This, he says will support Ghana build its vision on its flagship programs aimed at developing the country such as Ghana Beyond Aid.

Speaking to the media during the first Ghana-Thailand senior officials meeting, Ambassador Sammie Eddico said the meeting between both countries will deepen Africa’s regional and continental integration to achieve a homogenous and developed continent.

He used the opportunity to call Thailand’s senior officials to establish more Thai manufacturing companies to take advantage of the continental market.

“The government other flagship programmes under the transformation Agenda Is “Ghana Beyond Aid”. The vision of the Ghana beyond Aid is to build a wealthy, inclusive sustainable, empowered and resilient Ghana that is in charge of her economic destiny; a transformed Ghana that is prosperous enough to be beyond needing aid, and that engages competitively with the rest of the world through trade and investment.” Ghana is therefore desirous of tapping into the experiences and best practices of Thailand in order to benefit from the experiences and transfer of technology that will guide its development efforts.”

“Since independence, Ghana has always supported the agenda to deepen Africa’s Regional and Continental integration to achieve a homogeneous and develop continent, free from poverty diseases and other related barriers. It is in this vein that in July 2019, Ghana won the bid to host the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area, arguably the most important institution of the Africa Union in the history of its existence. We therefore call for an increase presence of the Thai Manufacturing industries in Ghana and Thailand at this opportune time would no doubt further strengthen this relationship to help us to achieve that objective. We are not only here to take stock of our cooperation but to also identify new areas for inclusion in the existing spheres of cooperation.”

The ministry also announced that some areas for cooperation have been categorized to provide framework for enhancing the levels of partnership and cooperation between Ghana and Thailand; they include Agriculture, trade, investment and financial cooperation as well as Education.
