Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu has scored Ghana high marks in terms of security saying the country is safe.

He believes the country’s security has not been breached as both foreigners and citizens are free to go about doing their legitimate duties any time of the day without fearing being attacked by unscrupulous persons.

The Nigerian philanthropist and businessman’s assessment of the Ghana’s security is in sharp contrast with the view widely held by a section of the public that security in this country has been threatened in recent times with the attacks on personnel of the security services especially the Police.

The Dome-Kwabenya Police Station in Accra was attacked by some unknown assailants on Sunday dawn, during which a senior police officer was killed and seven armed robbers freed from cell by the attackers.

About a fortnight ago, two police officers were also shot to death by suspected armed robbers in the Ashanti region at dawn. The attack has heightened fears of insecurity among Ghanaians with some security analysts suggesting the police cannot be trusted to protect the citizenry.

But speaking to Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Wednesday, Chief Dele Momodu who frequents Ghana expressed confidence in the country’s security system saying he’s never had cause to look over his shoulder whenever he’s in the country.

“There’s no doubt that in terms of Tourism Ghana is ahead of Nigeria, there’s no doubt. You see, the image you get of Ghana is a country that is totally at peace with the rest of the world. I landed in this country at 3am because the flight was crazily delayed and I was not afraid to drive out of the Airport at 3am. Security-wise Ghana is doing well.”
