Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says Ghana needs the combination of the Bible and Quran at the seat of the presidency to overcome its challenges.
He stated that the mountainous problems facing the country currently requires the spiritual intervention of the two holy books, stressing that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has destroyed the country.
Wontumi therefore entreated the electorates to vote massively for the NPP which has Nana Akufo-Addo, a staunch Christian and Dr. Bawumia, a staunch Muslim, as presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate, respectively.
He stated that if the NPP wins the December elections, Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia would take the Bible and Quran to the Flagstaff House and that would work in favour of the country in the spiritual realm.
“Our country Ghana is spiritually on its knees and we need the two holy books, the Bible and Quran at the Flagstaff House to intercede on behalf of the citizenry so that in the spiritual realm Ghana will be back on its feet”.
Speaking at the election 2016 campaign launch of the Nhyiaeso NPP at Patase on Sunday, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman commended the NPP for continually presenting a Christian and a Muslim as their candidates for elections.
According to him, the NPPs style has the potential of deepening the bond of unity among the people of the two faiths in the country.
Wontumi described the NDC as a political party which is full of liars “and President Mahama is the chief liar,” and he urged the electorates not to believe the fat promises that the NDC would spread to win their votes.
He said the NDC had stalled Ghana’s growth during the last eight years that they assumed the political leadership of the state, adding that a vote for the NDC is a sign of disaster for the country.
Wontumi urged the electorates to vote for the NPP so that Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia would implement pragmatic policies to transform the country and better the lives of the citizenry.
The programme which goes by the name ‘People’s Forum’ was transmitted live on Ashh FM in Kumasi. People from different backgrounds including chiefs and party supporters, among others, were present.
