LONDON (Reuters) - London-listed oil and gas exploration company Afren said on Thursday its Ghana offshore oil development costs rose by 7-8 percent due to regulatory changes following BP's oil spill off the Gulf of Mexico.

Afren's chief executive Osman Shahenshah told the Reuters Energy Summit in London that all deep offshore drilling projects were likely to incur extra costs as the industry comes under greater scrutiny following BP's oil spill.

"There will be additional costs...Nobody wants to go through what BP is going through," Shahenshah said.
