Ghana’s Ibn Chambas must emulate Pope Francis -Rawlings

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has admonished United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel, Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas to emulate Pope Francis by kissing the feet of warmongering Chokosies, Konkombas and Nanumbas as a move of calling for peace in the Northern region where he hails from.

Photos of Pope Francis going down on his knees to kiss the feet of warmongers in South Sudan pleading with them to allow peace prevail was circulated on social media.

This gesture by Pope Francis, Mr Rawlings suggested to Dr Chambas to take a cue from by appealing for peace among Chokosies, Konkombas and his own Nanumbas who have been engaging in bloodshed and maiming innocent people.

The ex-President believed that Dr Ibn Chambas being an internationally recognized leader if he comes down to the level of his people by engaging them in talks they might put down their guns and live in harmony.

Mr Rawlings believed the United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel engagements with war mongers up North will make a great impact in Ghana.

Speaking during the 40th anniversary of the June 4 revolution covered by MyNewsgh.com, the former President advised, ‘when we throw our minds back to the recent image of the great and pious statesman. Pope Francis, going down on his knees to kiss the feet of warmongering ‘statesmen’, as a way of pleading with them to recognize and appreciate the value of life and the dignity of their own South Sudanese people, we are reminded about the abuse of power by so-called leaders and herdsmen all over. Comrade Ibn Chambas, could take a cue from his eminence and attempt kissing the feet of some of the Chokosies, the Konkombas and his own Nanumbas, and appeal for peace’.

The ex-President further entreated leaders around the World especially Africa to ensure permanent peace in war prone countries and areas.
