Ghana’s Former Ambassador to Angola, Moses Bukari-Mabengba has exclusively confirmed to MyNewsGH.com his intention to contest as Northern Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Oh yes I am contesting as Northern Regional Chairman of the NDC”, he responded.

At the beginning of this year, there were widespread reports the former Northern Regional Minister was lacing his boots to battle the incumbent, Sofo Awudu Azorka for the position but nothing was heard until on Wednesday night when he finally put to rest the speculations.

Mr Moses Bukari-Mabengba served District Chief Executive (DCE), Member of Parliament (MP), Deputy Minister, Minister and an ambassador spanning 21 years of his entire political career.

The outspoken former Head of Mathematics Department of the University of Education, Winneba says he brings to the table a wealth of experience as a politician and a retired educationist.

He is expected to slug it out with the incumbent Regional Chairman, Sofo Awudu Azorka who has denied claims he has abdicated his position and will not contest when the party goes to Congress.

The NDC is expected to hold constituency and regional congresses somewhere in the coming months to elect new officers before a national one is conducted but he has downplayed claims he is no longer interested in the position.
