The Ghana Swimming Association has indefinitely suspended national swimmer Ophelia Swayne over bribery allegations against her colleague swimmer Kaya Forson.

According to Swayne, Spain-based Forson’s father paid an undisclosed amount for her to be picked in place of her for the Olympic Games.

Swayne was said to have been dropped from team Ghana’s Olympic team due to her consistent recalcitrant behaviour.

“Ophelia could not swim in the World Championship knowing the advantage that happens there. Her club had expunged her for truancy during her training regime and because of that she lost a place in the national team.

"Just after, you (Swayne) come back accusing the Association of collecting bribe when you had the opportunity to qualify you failed.

"Before she comes back to the Association, she must render an unqualified apology to the Association and me,” Association president Theophilus Edzi told Starr Sports.

Meanwhile, the father of Kaya, Andrew Poku Forson has also rubbished the claims by the young swimmer.
