Senya Beraku (C/R), May 15, GNA - Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (GT) on Thursday inaugurated a cell site at Senya Beraku in the Central Region as part of efforts to have a nationwide coverage, avoid congestion and also provide quality services.

The cell site, which cost 220,000 dollars, constitutes part of the company's accelerated growth strategy to cover 95 per cent of all settlements in Ghana within the next 12 months.

Mr David Mettle, Chief Technical Officer of GT, said the company intended to keep its rural focus because they were committed to bridging the digital divide between the rural and urban centres. He said the cell site at Senya Beraku was one of the several sites in many parts of the country that had been deliberately selected to ensure that those in the rural and peri-urban communities benefited equally from the communication revolution.

Mr. Mettle added that the cell site was part of GT's intention to strengthen all processes and procedures that would enhance customer service.

He also said the company had innovative products in the pipeline which would be outdoored in the near future. "With this strategy, we believe that our customers will enjoy uninterrupted communication wherever they are in Ghana." Mr. Mettle noted that GT was the only company in Ghana which had a university and was also sponsoring the premier football league as part of its social responsibility, adding that it was committed to sponsoring the league till 2010. He also commended the chiefs and people of Senya Beraku for their support and cooperation. Nenyi Amerty Sarfo, a chief in Senya Beraku, thanked GT for the choosing their place for the site, adding that, the project would bring development to the people.
