Accra, Oct. 1, GNA- An European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellite, EUMETSAT with headquarters in Germany, in collaboration with the Ghana Meteorological Service on Tuesday launched the 8th EUMETSAT forum be held in Accra. The forum, which would be held between from October 6-10 would bring together representatives of all the Meteorological Agencies on the continent is under the theme; "Use of Satellite Data for Monitoring Climate Change and Water Resources".
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Vincent Gabarglio, International Relations Officer of UEMETSAT said the main aim of the UEMESAT forum in Accra was to cement the already good relationship that it had with its African users and also optimise the use of its satellite data and products in Africa.
"The forum will be an opportunity for African users to provide feedback and commendations to EUMETSAT, which will be beneficial in the preparation of its future activities," he added. He noted that, the 8th UEMETSAT forum would also focus on the evolution of the UEMETSAT satellite programmes, data distribution and training activities.
Mr. Emmanuel Aferi, the representative of the Ghana Meteorological Service said its outfit started using the services of UEMETSAT in 2000 and it had been very helpful in its data delivery on the weather. He applauded UEMETSAT for choosing Ghana to host its 8th forum and pledged the support of the Ghana Meteorological Service towards its success.
