Fri, 15 Jul 2011 Source: GNC

Biggest Ghanaian festival outside Ghana
This July 2011, all roads and traffic lead towards Chicago for the mammoth GhanaFest.
Ghanafest is Saturday, July 30th, 2011 at Washington Park, 5600 South Russell Drive, Chicago (the Street east of Martin Luther King Drive/55th Street aka Garfield Blouvard), West of Du Sable Museum and near the Swimming Pool. It is the same location as last year’s. For further directions, call 773-636-7013/773-960-5416 or 847-812-3166.

This year’s will feature, Kofi-B, Nana Boro – Hi-Life superstars. We are pulling all strings to get the Ghana Dance Ensemble from Ghana. There would be Full Gospel show by the church of Pentecost choir in Chicago. Negotiations are ongoing for Agya Koo and others. Dignitaries lined up are Governor Pat Quinn of Illinois, our dear Ambassador Daniel Ohene Agyekum, US Congressman Bobby Rush (who would be initiated into the Asante clan), IL-Senator Kwami Raul, Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle, and 4th Ward Alderman William Burns. This is to mention just a few.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are asking the community for massive patronage of $10.00 at the gate to help pay our way to sustain and preserve this festival for our children’s children. It would help defray increase being levied by City and Service providers for the festival. Corporate sponsorship has dried out and Affiliates are stretched out to the limit.

The gates will open at 11.00 prompt and end at 10.00pm. As usual, there would be different African arts and craft cheaply to buy plus a good taste of Ghanaian cuisine.
For more details, check on event flyer and at our website: - www.ghananationalcouncil.org. We advise Vendors who would sell Merchandise to click on Forms at our website and to pre-pay to guarantee a good spot. Priority would be given those who pre-pay. Hope to see you there. We thank you dearly.
