Ghanaian Bodies Found in Algerian desert

Algiers, Aug 3 (DPA) The bodies of 21 Africans were found in the southern Algerian desert near Tamanrasset, local police said today.

The 17 men and four women from different African countries had reportedly died of thirst. Six passports from Mali, Ghana and Benin were found with the bodies.

It is increasingly common for Africans to try to reach the north African coast in a search for work and a better life in Europe.

Many die on the difficult trail which passes more than 1,000 kilometres through the Sahara desert.
