...Pleads Not Guilty
Manfo Kwaku Asiedu and three others suspected in the attempted attacks on the London transport system on July 21, pleaded not guilty on Tuesday, in an appearance at a High Security Court in London on Tuesday.
Tuesday?s hearing gave the first glimpse of Kwaku Manfo, who was arrested on July 26, in a North London neighborhood. He allegedly has been linked to a knapsack bomb that was found abandoned in a park in West London two days after the failed attacks.
The find led to the theory that the original plot included a fifth bomber who never reached his intended target. Prosecutors did not specify why the fifth bomb was not used or explain Asiedu?s alleged role.
Asiedu, 32, pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring to murder passengers using explosives.
There have been unconfirmed media reports that, Asiedu may be the son of Ghana?s Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Dr. K. K. Manfo.
Asiedu was accompanied by a twi interpreter. Police did not disclose his birthplace, but said he has lived in the Finsbury park area in London.
