Mr. Kwesi Pratt, Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper has tongue-lashed Ghanaian politicians labeling them as being “rotten” and “useless” and always having the penchant of engaging in needless matters that will not profit the electorate.

Speaking as a panelist on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji programme, Mr. Kwesi Pratt was at a loss as to why pertinent issues that needed to be discussed in the country had been relegated to the background, with the Ghanaian politician going on about irrelevant issues.

“The Ghanaian political elite is totally rotten and useless, they have nothing to offer the people of this country. When they talk, they don’t make sense yet they don’t realise that they are not making sense. Instead of concentrating to the needs of the people, they sit and say anything...this is incredible. Our politicians should wake up…,” he said.

He accused members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of being deficient when it comes to understanding basic economic principles, but always having something ill to say about every government policy. According to him, when it comes to issues bordering on inflation, budget and other economic issues, the NPP is simply ignorant and usually speak from an uninformed position.

“These people don’t understand basic economic concepts, if they don’t understand common basic economic principles, what are they going to do if we offer them power…what have they to offer? They complain of the president not doing anything and when the President goes to commission boreholes and other projects, they blame him of commissioning projects which were constructed by the NPP…what is wrong with these people?…the reality is much different from what they see…”

He continued: “the NPP should understand that they are in the disadvantage because of the fact that they are in opposition and so if they decide to indulge in name calling and sloganeering, the government will beat them even if they claim they (government) is not doing anything”.
