This year, several prominent figures across various sectors have had to say their final goodbyes. In this article, we focus on Ghanaian showbiz personalities who have experienced the heartbreaking loss of close family members, as shared on social media.

Below are some of the Ghanaian celebrities who mourned the loss of their loved ones in 2024:

1. Mzbel (Belinda Ekua Amoah)

On August 6, 2024, popular musician Mzbel announced the passing of her mother, Madam Charlotte Asi Ocansey.

The cause of her mother's death was not publicly disclosed, but the tragic loss deeply affected the singer. The funeral service was held on October 5, 2024, at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Babayara-Madina, where numerous well-known personalities, including Asabe Kropa, Clemento Suarez, and Francis Xavier Sosu, joined in mourning. Mzbel had previously lost her father, Albert Amoah, in January 2022.

2. Kweku Flick (Andy Osei Sarfo)

In the third quarter of 2024, musician Kweku Flick, lost his father, Osei Kofi, who was affectionately known as "Pointed."

He passed away on August 7, 2024, though the cause of death was not publicly disclosed.

Osei Kofi's funeral service was held on October 19, 2024, with industry figures like Akabenezer, YPee, and Oteele, among others, in attendance to console the grieving musician.

3. Kwame Despite's mother-in-law

In October 2024, Mrs. Kate Opoku-Acheampong, the mother of Dr. Osei Kwame Despite's wife, passed away.

Following a memorial service in Accra, her body was airlifted to Mampongten in the Ashanti Region for the final rites from October 10 to 12, 2024.

In several videos that made rounds on the internet, business mogul Dr. Despite was seen actively playing a lead role during the funeral, joined by family members and the likes of Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong and Fadda Dickson.

4. Kofi Amoa-Abban

Ghanaian entrepreneur Kofi Amoa-Abban, the CEO of Rigworld Solutions, lost his mother, Leticia Amoa-Abban, on September 29, 2024, after a brief illness.

She was laid to rest on October 26, 2024 in a solemn ceremony held in Tema.

It can be recalled that during Kofi Amoa-Abban's mother’s funeral, he tearfully shared how she had been instrumental in the establishment of his multi-million-dollar company.

He recounted how his mother had provided him with a loan of just GH₵250,00 which became the foundation for what is now Rigworld Solutions, a leading enterprise in the country.

5. Minister Kofi Owusu Peprah

Gospel musician Kofi Owusu Peprah lost his father, Rev. George Owusu Mensah, a well-respected Senior Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Amakom, Ashanti Region.

Rev. Mensah passed away in the early hours of Sunday, November 10, 2024.

The late reverend minister who doubled as a gospel musician was known for the popular hit song "Matwen Awurade Anim,".

6. Kojo Antwi

Veteran musician Kojo Antwi, known as the "Maestro," mourned the loss of his mother, Madam Mary Adwoa Nyamaa, who passed away on November 13, 2024, while receiving treatment at the Mpraeso General Hospital in the Eastern Region.

The family observed a fortieth-day gathering as part of the funeral rites.

7. Empress Gifty (Evangelist Gifty Adorye)

On December 14, 2024, gospel musician Empress Gifty shared the heart-wrenching news of her mother's sudden death.

Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan, also known as "Agaga," passed away after a brief illness.

She was an actress and appeared in many TV commercials. Despite her age, she remained active and was a vibrant personality, often supporting her daughter both in her career and through online challenges.
