Media is cooking up Gay stories -McDonalds

The President of Gay and Lesbian Association of Ghana, Patrick McDonalds has noted that his association, which seeks the welfare of gays, lesbians and bisexuals in Ghana, is shocked at media speculations that an International Gay Conference had allegedly been scheduled for Accra, Ghana in the third week of September.

The leader of the Homosexuals Association said that he as well as his group are unaware of any International Conference for gays and lesbians slated to take place in Ghana.

He expressed shock that some media houses which carried news stories on the alleged conference attributed statements to him (McDonalds) whereas he had never been contacted. P.K McDonalds emphasized that the on-going hullabaloo on gays and lesbians’ recognition and an alleged international conference was nothing but a pure speculation of a story cooked up by the media.

He said though the debate in the media had aggravated public hatred against people with same sex preference, they are not the least discouraged.

Interestingly, the leader of the homosexuals, said gays and lesbians rather become united and develop a stronger affection between and among themselves when society turns against them.

In a previous interview, Mr McDonalds had said that Gay and Lesbians Association of Ghana has over 500 registered members, with an office in Accra as well as regional offices in Sunyani, Kumasi and Cape Coast.

The Association he noted, does not register people under 18 years of age and they meet nicodemously on regular basis.
