Born to parents of high academic and spiritual pursuits, Afia Birago Donkor being the only daughter, had grown into a beautiful young lady with a high academic feat. She had studied to become a lawyer and worked as a volunteer for a faith-based charity in Ontario-Canada.
In 2010, Afia had gone to the United States for a bone marrow transplant to reverse her SCD. The transplant worked, and since then she had lived free of pain.
Afia committed herself to living freely and completely for the cause of Jesus.
According to her friends and colleagues, "She was a compassionate soul who was a listening ear to all she came in contact with, and cared deeply for her family and friends."
Unfortunately, Afia peacefully died in her sleep on November 11, 2017 in France where she had gone to teach English as a second language (ESL). She was 35 years old.
Afia in her spare time enjoyed photography, music and writing.
Her memorial service will be held in Toronto-Canada on November 25, 2017.
She left behind her parents-Pastor (Dr.) & Mrs. Donkor of the Research Centre at the World Headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in USA, and a brother-Akwasi Donkor.
