Ghanaian on cannabis smuggling charge in Japan

NARITA — A Ghana national was arrested last month at Narita airport on a charge of attempting to smuggle about 1 kilogram of cannabis into Japan, customs and police authorities said Tuesday.

Morler Harun Iddriss, 31, an unemployed Tokyo resident, was accused of violating the Cannabis Control Law when the cannabis was found stashed inside his knapsack after he arrived on a flight from Ghana via the Netherlands on Sept. 28, they said. The cannabis had an estimated street value of 4 million yen.
