Controversial lawyer Dr. Maurice Ampaw has observed with worry, the increasing lack of confidence women have in the Gender Ministry; the very ministry that is meant to protect and defend their rights as Ghanaian women.

It is quite evident he insisted, in the fact that majority of Ghanaian women will opt on any day to seek help from pastors and prophets than go to the Gender ministry.

Maurice Ampaw believes this is a major problem which has high tendencies of affecting women in the country.

"Women still go to pastors to seek for help regardless of the existence of Gender Ministry. That is the problem with our women in the country. They don’t have confidence in the ministry so the pastors have established prayer camps in expectation of these women.”

He described the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection as a sector which merely formulates policies and conducts researches and barely focuses on serving their main purpose; being a reliable entity that can help women and children get the justice they deserve and support whenever the need arises.

Dr. Maurice Ampaw who was speaking to the host of Purple Room Sally Akua Amankwa on Angel TV expressed disappointment in how much public funds the ministry wastes in organizing various programs and seminars where a lot of talking goes on but ultimately yields no positive results.

“The height of it all is they organise a lot of seminars and symposia, invite big professors to such events only to drink wine, lodge in big hotels, speak big grammar and waste public funds".
