Ghanaians Abroad Want Dual Citizenship

Winneba (C/R) Ghanaians living in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada, have renewed their call on the government to expedite action on the promulgation of the dual citizenship law. This, they contended, will assist them take a firm decision on plans to send home some of their earnings for investment. The call was made through Mr Mike Hammah, deputy minister of roads and transport who is also the MP for Effutu when he attended a congress organised by Effutu citizens association in the United States of America in New York.

Briefing the people of Effutu on the outcome of the congress, the minister said the meeting attracted a large number of Effutu citizens from New York, Washington, Georgia, Massachusetts, Canada and England among others.


Mr Hammah said he also briefed the meeting on events at home, particularly the achievements of the government within the past 16 years and asked them to take advantage of the new government's investment policy to invest their resources at home.

He said for Ghana to catch up with the fast-developing world, every citizen must contribute positively towards the implementation of programmes designed to improve the economy.
