Ghanaians asked not to judge NDC in five months

Cape Coast, June 2, GNA - The Central Regional branch of the Youth for Future Leadership (YFL), on Tuesday urged Ghanaians especially the leadership and members of the New Patriotic Party not to judge the performance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) within its five months in office.

A press statement issued Mr Prince Koomson, Chairman of YFL, said Ghanaians in their collective wisdom, gave the NDC a four-year mandate and that the ruling party has been in power for only five months. The statement pointed out that President John Evans Atta Mills would have performed the magic some politicians wanted, if the NDC had not come to meet huge budget deficit.

It said what the government and the people of Ghana needed at this period of reconstruction are co-operation was practical support and fruitful ideas that would move the nation forward in the right direction.

In a related development the group also congratulated former President Jerry John Rawlings and his gallant warriors who committed their lives to the liberation of the ordinary Ghanaian, through the June 4, 1979 uprising.

The statement noted that the events that led to the June 4 "house-cleaning exercise" should be lesson to guide Ghanaians in the performance of their duties.

It called on all Ghanaians to contribute positively towards the development of the country to enable it move forward.
