Alhaji Sani, a member of the Ashanti Regional Branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has said President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo did not inherit a mess as he sought to claim, rather, the people of Ghana elected a mess as president.

He argued that the president His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo inherited a fortune, but the good people of the country have rather elected a mess onto themselves as president. ‘

“It is the people of Ghana who elected a mess’. ‘He was enstooled on wealth and property, but those who have run at lost are the teeming Ghanaians that voted him and his party into power’, he said.

He stressed that President Akufo-Addo is practicing ‘tonaton’ governance, to wit, buy and sell governance.

Alhaji Sani, a former regional vice Chairman of NDC, was reacting to the President’s assertion that he and his government has inherited a mess from the President John Dramani Mahama led administration on Pampaso, a flagship on Montie FM, an Accra base radio station and hosted by Samuel Huntor.

According to President Akufo-Addo, “when we came into office, we were met with huge debts and no money. It is for this reason that we put in place the appropriate measures to strengthen our monetary system, so the development we promised the people can be met.”

He however revealed that since taking office some 7 months ago, his government has taken a lot of measures to correct the economic mess inherited, with some of the macroeconomic figures beginning to show some improvement.

“We will know we are making real progress when the improved figures lead to an improved business atmosphere and more investment that lead to the creation of jobs,” he stated.

But the NDC stalwart observed that his election as a president is the mistake Ghanaians will have to bear with.
