Indigenes of Asanteman resident in North America have praised president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for the Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative.

According to a representative of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei II who was addressing guests including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joe Osei Wusu and the New Patriotic Party Member (NPP) of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia North Collins Owusu Amankwah, at this year’s Asanteman day celebrations at Denver Colorado in the United States of America, he observed that the Free Senior High School initiative has taken a lot of burden from parents and particularly the Asanteman Associations in North America.

According to him, before the rollout of the Free Senior High School policy, the Asanteman Associations used to contribute cash donations to the Otumfuo Educational Fund, adding that with the roll out the policy, that burden has been taken off the Associations.

The representative expressed Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s desire to see the Asanteman Associations in the diaspora work at contributing their quota to the advancement and progress of Asanteman and the country at large.

He stressed the need for parents in the diaspora to inculcate in their children, the culture, values and traditions of Asanteman so that they can become responsible adults and citizens.

He also lauded the spirit of Patriotism with which the diaspora Associations work, in their quest to see the development of Asanteman, adding that they have always shown by deeds and action that they are true sons and daughters of Asanteman.
