The Ghanaian Honorary Consul to Ukraine, Dr. Albert Kitcher, has assured the general public, especially Ghanaians whose family members are in the troubled Eastern European Country – Ukraine, that they are safe.
Speaking to Kojo Dake and Ache, the hosts of Osibisa Radio Morning Show in London, Dr. Kitcher said his outfit has a database of all Ghanaians in Ukraine and each of them was contacted directly or through their representatives to ensure that they are out of harm's way.
He said he personally made several calls to and visited Ghanaian students in that country to ascertain and reassure them of their welfare.
Dr. Kitcher explained that, citizens were right to be concerned about the situation in the Republic of Ukraine. He assured listeners that the Government of Ghana is doing everything possible to ensure that no single Ghanaian resident in Ukraine will be affected by the happenings and that assistance was readily available to support any citizen who may need them.
He, however, added that, his outfit has issued a directive to all Ghanaians resident in Ukraine to avoid certain areas in the country and also provided them with emergency numbers to call should they find themselves in trouble at anytime. Dr. Albert Kitcher also used the opportunity to call on other nationals, particularly citizens from the African Union and the Commonwealth in Ukraine, to feel free to contact the Ghanaian Consulate for assistance should they be in any trouble whatsoever for support.
