Reports about the demise of renowned Ghanaian Mathematician and Physicist, Professor Francis Allotey have been received by Ghanaians with heavy hearts.
Professor Allotey who was Ghana's first professor in mathematics died at age 85 on Thursday, November 2, around 9pm after he had made several complaints of ill health.
After hearing news of his death, many Ghanaians have taken to various social media platforms to share their grief and extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
Professor Francis Kofi Ampenyin Allotey was born in August 1932 at Saltpond in the Central Region of Ghana and received his early education at the Ghana National College.
He was a Scholar, Nuclear Physicist and a Consultant in Informatics for Development.
He worked on Soft X-Ray Spectroscopy leading to his principle "Allotey Formalism".
