Some Ghanaians on twitter have descended heavily on President Nana Akufo-Addo for his tweet about “horrific” accident at Kintampo that has claimed at least 30 lives.
President Nana Akufo-Addo has extended his condolences to the families of those who perished in the Kintampo-Tamale Highway fatality on Monday.
The President also wished the survivors, some of whom sustained various degrees of injuries, a speedy recovery.
But according to some Ghanaians on twitter, they don’t need sympathy from the president, what they need from him is to fix the deplorable roads and construct dual carriage on some of the highways in the country.
Some assert that consoling families of victims of horrifying accidents has become the norm for successive presidents.
On Monday, a Yutong bus, headed to Accra veered off its lane and collided with a Tamale-bound Sprinter.
The impact caused the two vehicles to go up in flames.
Below are some of the tweets:
My sympathies and condolences go to all the families and loved ones of the deceased in Monday’s horrific accident on the Kintampo-Tamale Highway. May their souls Rest In Peace. I also wish the injured a speedy recovery.

This be all what you know to do, what measures have you put in place to take care of this horrific accident that always occurs on that road? Shame Mr President

This is the Kind of road we need at least to link our major cities while we educate the drivers to adhere to driving rules and less speed pic.twitter.com/4L9hcOjrnJ

It shouldn't always be about condolences but taking time to fix the bad roads to prevent these accidents, rather than wasting money on unprofitable projects.

The usual thought and prayers but no action

We need new reforms on safety measures on our road Mr. President. Accident is killing more than HIV,Coronavirus and any deadly disease in Ghana. Accident kills 4 people daily and this is very serious. We need to curb this to preserve lives #SafetyOnOurRoads

We don't just a wish. National road safety commission is a scam.

Night traveling should be temporarily banned!
We need dual carriageways in Ghana to help curb the spate of road fatalities. Precious lives are being lost, Mr. President, please do something about this and your name will foreverremain in the hearts of Ghanaians.

Hopefully when you are done with the Cathedral all these problems will stop since the prayers will be heard better there by God
