Ghanaians should eschew all forms of election malpractices.

New Ebu, Dec. 17, GNA- The Central Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Charles Nkrumah has asked Ghanaians to avoid all forms of election malpractice in order to avoid chaos at the community level and nation at large. He appealed to them to turn up in their numbers to cast their votes during the District Level Elections (DLE) on Tuesday, December 28. He also advised that when platforms are mounted for the aspirants, the public should ask election-related questions and not personal ones that will spark chaos.

Mr. Nkrumah was addressing an NCCE organized durbar to educate the chiefs and people of New Ebu in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese District on the forthcoming DLE, on Friday. Mr. Kwesi Dadzie, the District Director of NCCE reminded the public that the Assembly and Unit Committee Members are not paid salaries and therefore urged them to vote for people who are committed and have their communities at heart.

He asked them to vote for humble and respectful aspirants who will cooperate with the chiefs and leaders in the community. The District Chief Executive for AAK, Mrs. Aba Edusah said that voting was a civic responsibility in which every citizen above 18 years needed to be involved and pleaded with people who had resolved not to vote to change their mind.

She called on them not to vote on personal gains such as extorting money from aspirants or voting for them because they are family. She advised them to rather look out for competence and make the right choice so that in unity and harmony the community could develop. During the open forum, the people reiterated the need to elect aspirants based on their competence and not on personal gains. A senior citizen, Nana Kwabena Gyan advised aspirants to accept election results when they are announced and not to engage in lawlessness when the results do not favour them. A short drama on the DLE was performed to educate the people on how to avoid election malpractices and foster peace and development in the community and country at large.
