Ghanaians have been asked to brace up to pay more for fuel.

This will be a culmination of government’s cost recovery exercise, which is ongoing, according to an official at the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum.

Ras Liberty Amewude, the Deputy Head of Communications at the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, on Thursday, June 26 said on TV3’s News 360 that: “If we want to recover cost that means the consumer would have to pay the realistic prices and we are getting there."

He indicated that there has been a slack in the implementation of the exercise as a result of the current economic conditions.

He also indicated that government is on top of the recent fuel shortage that has hit Accra and other parts of the country.

“Government is working on it to ensure that we normalize the situation.”

He said the Bulk Oil Distributing Companies (BDCs) will be paid what government owes them after an ongoing audit.
